As you can see, opportunities and dangers are but dialectical constituents of reflexive modernity, the inevitable paradigm that has so shaped risk society today.

But in order to appreciate the so-called dialectics, one needs to probe a further understanding towards reflexivity. Reflexivity does not imply reflection, but self-confrontation. The transition from the industrial to the risk period of modernity occurs undesired, unseen and compulsively in the wake of the autonomized dynamism of modernization. I can thus say that the constellations of risk society are produced because the certitudes of industrial society dominate the thought and action of people and institutions in industrial society. Unlike ulrich becks, I believe in revolution.
