Hero of the Month: Ulrich Beck

This guys basically lumps social sciences, sciences and ecology into one big juggernaut call the risk society. I'm not reading too much of him though. I just need to squeeze one paragraph out of him for the last 500 words or so. Maybe I'll write more of him next time, meanwhile you can check him out at

Typing never seems to end for jimmy...

I have to admit, I stole most of my ideas from him. All the best for that final push (sounds like giving birth, doesn't it? but maybe not that different after all).

HAHA. I am studying both Ulrich Beck and Giddens for my Contemporary Social Theory class, under the great Uncle Chua...

I am meanwhile squashed by the works of yet another German thinker, Niklas Luhmann as I write my second paper for the class.

And I thought Habermas was anal. Why are German thinkers so anal?

to klem: I think germen thinkers are anal because they are forced to string super duper long sentences in one stupid words, since birth. and i heard you din want to spoon feed rachel mok with gender studies knowledge. Like wad giddens says:"you suck la..."

to giddens: Birth pains? the victorous age of our first age of modernity has given us much despair in the second age of reflexive modernity. It is time to colonize the future in the realm of my Risk Society!
